EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is an awareness-based approach that centers on the relationship between emotional experiences and the body. As frequently observed in daily clinical practice, intense emotional burdens do not remain solely on a mental level; they can manifest in the body as tension, pain, fatigue, or various somatic symptoms. EFT aims to address this body–emotion connection and to create space for individuals to come into contact with their own experiences.
In this approach, the primary focus is not on suppressing emotions. In order to transform negative emotions, individuals must first be able to recognize what they are feeling as it is, and achieve regulation on a bodily level. Through specific contact points on the body, EFT supports making the emotional intensity within energy-related areas more tolerable. These points are known as “acupressure points” and are similar to well-known acupuncture points. In this way, while engaging with challenging experiences, individuals can feel more physically aligned and regulated.
Within this holistic framework, it is important to consider which emotion arises, in what life context, and with what bodily correspondence. For this reason, EFT is not approached as a standardized protocol, but rather as a supportive method shaped according to the individual’s needs and the nature of the process.
